Difference North East are looking for Disabled zine makers, visual artists, and creative facilitators, based in the North East. We are creating a database of disabled creatives who can run creative workshops for young people: and we would love to hear from you.
What we are looking for
If you identify as a disabled or neurodivergent person, this means you have an impairment, condition or illness that limits your activities or you face barriers in your daily life and have a zine making, visual arts or creative facilitation practice and are interested in running workshops with members of the public- we’d love to hear from you.
We are looking for Artists from or in the North East. By the North East we mean the areas covered by the North East Mayoral Combined Authority and the Tees Valley Combined Authority. This includes, Northumberland, Tyneside, Wearside, County Durham and Darlington and the Tees Valley.
We are especially interested in artists who have experience in helping people write/make art about their own lives. We are very open to hearing about different craft, art and creative practices.
Joining the database
We are often looking to work with disabled artists to bring ideas to life, and would like to create a database of artists from the North East we can contact about future opportunities.
We are looking ahead to our next major project – ‘Disability History: Past, Present, Future’ which will run between November-December 2026 where we hope to organise creative workshops for young people to engage in.
Joining the database does not guarantee any work, but is a way for us to get to know who is working in the region.
