Disabled people living their lives in the North East – Claiming the Normal (Redcar 2026)
In 2024, Difference North East were creating a new website and were disheartened by the stock images available of disabled people that could be used, so we commissioned photographer Kev Howard to produce the ‘Claiming the Normal’ series.
The project celebrates every day disabled lives, challenging stereotypes and reclaiming space for authentic representation.
