A chance visit to Clip and Climb at the Metro centre in Gateshead, and a letter by our Development Manager Claire, has led to captioned briefings being implemented at Clip ‘n Climb centres.
Letter to Clipnclimb from Difference North East 09-10-24
Following our letter we received the response below:
Good morning, Claire
Thank you for your recent letter regarding your visit to a Clip ‘n Climb facility with your family. Your letter was viewed by a high number of our staff, due to its subject.
Firstly, I hope that you and your family enjoyed your experience at Clip ‘n Climb. “We believe everyone can” was chosen as a central tenet of Clip ‘n Climb as we wanted to be clear that we do not believe there is any person who cannot enjoy are product and that this demonstrates our commitment to making our products accessible. We have worked with various organisations to enable sessions to be more welcoming. It is always good to receive feedback on possible avenues to improve in this area.
As you will hopefully agree the safety briefing video is visually strong, this has been developed to assist any climber who is, for any reason, not able to clearly hear the verbal content. We have produced captioned briefings and will continue to develop these and ensure that centres are aware of this option for climbers.
Accessibility is an evolving process, and we like to think that we, as a brand and as a company, are proactive in playing our part. We have taken your advice on board and will be working with centres to ensure that everything possible is done to make anyone who enters a Clip ‘n Climb centre feel safe, happy, confident and informed.
I hope that this has addressed your concerns, please let me know if you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me on this email or, alternatively, let me know if you would like to discuss the issue and we can hopefully arrange a meeting to discuss the issues you have raised further.
Thank you
