In person Disabled Canon: A vibrant collage-style artwork combining protest imagery and social activism themes. The composition features repeated text reading 'BLOCK TELETHON' in various colours including pink, yellow, cyan, and white, overlaid across the image. A prominent protest sign reads 'CUTS WILL KILL' and 'I AM DISABLED NOT DISPOSABLE' held by a masked protester. Black circles containing years (1990, 1987, 1960, 1974, 1999, 2011, 2021) are scattered across the composition. The background includes fragmented images of protesters, signs mentioning 'JUSTICE' and 'FIGHT FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE,' and groups of people. The artwork uses a glitch aesthetic with overlapping layers, halftone patterns, and a color palette of purples, pinks, teals, and yellows, creating a dynamic commentary on disability rights activism and protests across different decades.

Disabled Canon ZOOM EVENT – How the North East can lead meaningful change in the creative sector’s relationship to disabled-led work.

For centuries disabled people have existed on stages, and in literature as villains, objects of ridicule or pity, and never in our own right. Disabled lives have been narrated by others – framed through fear, charity, or tragedy – rather than told through our own voices.
